Driving Results—as an Individual Contributor and as a Team
(Bobsled & Skeleton)

Most organizations are keen on the important issues facing their business and often have elaborate plans for solving the challenges.  However, most struggle in the area of execution.  In a very unique 3 day workshop focused on executing and driving results, participants will spend the first day and a half focusing on how to drive results from an individual perspective.  The second half of the course then focuses on how to drive results as a team.  Using the winter sports of Bobsled and Skeleton as metaphors, participants will drive themselves down a ½ mile of the Olympic ice tracks in Lake Placid, NY or Park City, UT, as they use the experience to understand about the essential elements of executing which include: prepare, focus, execute, and review.  Workshops will be held at the Olympic Training Center in Lake Placid, NY.

Leveraging Strengths (Judo)

Through the Olympic sport of Judo, participants will learn how to literally leverage their strengths to accomplish their goals. The science and art of first identifying and then building on strengths will be discussed. Participants will also learn how to transfer energy and its critical role in helping people to leverage their strengths. Participants have the opportunity to learn more about who they are as individuals and their innate strengths through the Myers-Briggs assessment that they will take as part of the workshop. Participants then learn how to build on and leverage those innate strengths to become better leaders and performers.

Emotional Intelligence (Fencing)

The number one predictor of job performance is not intelligence, but an ability to create and cultivate working relationships with others. Emotional Intelligence and Fencing focuses on teaching the fundamentals of the emotional intelligence framework through the Olympic sport of fencing. Emotional Intelligence is a relationship-building model, which includes the subcomponents of: self-awareness, self-management, motivation, and an ability to understand others. These elements, when combined, allow individuals to act with increased social ability — giving them the skill needed to successfully form and foster meaningful relationships that help them as leaders to be successful. Participants will learn this framework as they learn to fence and will have the opportunity to interact with Olympic hopefuls.

Listening Skills (Goalball)

Are you a good listener? If asked, what would others say about how well you listen? Authentic leadership starts with an ability to genuinely listen to others and be able to accurately interpret their needs. Through experiencing the Paralympic sport of Goalball, participants will learn more about the importance of listening and receive training on how to better their listening skills. Participants will specifically learn about types of listening and a framework for active listening. Additionally, participants will have the opportunity to take a unique assessment that will help them determine which areas of listening are areas of strength and where there are opportunities to improve.

Appreciative Change
Become, Don't Compare (Volleyball)

In the world of sport, change is an expectation, it’s part of the challenge, excitement and thrill.  It’s a part of every play, strategy and system.  It’s creative and fun.  Yet outside of the sports arena, change is often seen as frustrating, a fight, or a struggle.  We don’t have to think this way.  Through experiencing the sport of volleyball, learn how to have fun with change, inspire change and apply it to your personal, professional and organizational life.  Additionally, through a personal assessment instrument, learn your own change style and how it interacts with other change styles.  Equipped with knowledge about your change style and sports approach to change, appreciate change in a whole new way.

Recovery and Renewal

Leadership is hard work and not for the faint of heart. However, leaders must be wise in how they expend their energy and learn how to continully reposition themselves in order to be ready for their next leadership moments. Through experiences in the United States Olympic Training Center's Athlete Recovery Center, participants will gain unique insight into practical tools and methods they can use to "re-center" themsleves after challenging moments or days. Participants will interact with trained professionals to learn the techniques and tricks that athletes use to recover from workouts and translate those same lessons to their leadership style. The cutting edge of performance is renewal.

High Performance Feedback (Sports Technology)

What does good feedback look like, and how often should it be given? These questions and more can be answered in Olympic University's one day High Performance Feedback workshop. In this workshop, participants will learn about the different types of feedback and the appropriate timing of feedback that will be of the greatest impact to others. Using the latest technology that Olympians use for training, High Performance Feedback utilizes Dartfish and Eye on Performance technologies along with future Olympians to help participants realize the value of feedback as they engage in specific skills and elements required in various Olympic sports.
